Today, November 29, just over a year after the the first release of Firefox, the Mozilla Foundation put out the first major update to the browser; Mozilla has rolled out the long-awaited Firefox 1.5.

Firefox 1.5

This new release of Mozilla's award-winning flagship product "…delivers web pages faster than ever", and sports "quick page loading as you navigate back and forward in a browsing session." Visit Firefox's new home to see other new features.

There's even more to mark this as an exciting day for Mozilla fans, since the newly formed Mozilla Corporation also released their website today, which will be the "new home" of Firefox, Thunderbird and all other Mozilla products. Visitors to mozilla.org are now informed that they can "find [Firefox and Thunderbird] and a whole lot more at Mozilla.com". Indeed, the site of the Mozilla Corporation boasts an updated and more intuitive user interace, inviting you to download Firefox 1.5. Thunderbird is still in version 1.0.7, but an update will probably follow soon.

Even mozilla.com wasn't the only site that got a makeover today. Mozilla Update, the place to find tons of extensions and themes, also has changed for the better with a better-organized page layout and a welcomed addition of the Search Engines section. SpreadFirefox.com, the popular grass-roots Firefox marketing community, is temporarily down to integrate some exciting new features that will help Firefox fans spread the word more. The big hype is around "an exciting new community marketing campaign called 'Firefox Flicks'". Firefox Flicks is an amazing service which will house user-testimonial videos for the world to see how Firefox has improved people's browsing experience. Everyone will have the oppourtunity to record and submit their own videos, right from the same page!
