Firefox Tutor

I am a senior playing with the internet especially to learn more about my favorite subject -perfumes.
I have had not had formal training in internet usage.
I use mozilla and firefox because so much of what I have read indicates that is the thing to do.

I try to read your tutoring sites but i would suggest you have a newbie try them to make sure we understand them.
You are still using terms or instructing us to do things that are not clear.

I have accumulated a large number of bookmarked sites on perfumes
and I am considering furl or a tag system to coordinate and organize them.

Horror story-I visited my local adult education institution and asked for mozilla and firefox training and they looked at me as if i had three heads.Why are they not training for the future if no the present? Neither the adult education school nor the public library offers classes.

Is there any way of finding a group of users in my community
who may wish to communicate ?

Carney, although Firefox is a great browser, it is still not as widely supported as the competitors, such as Internet Explorer, from Microsoft. The last time I heard Internet Explorer’s usage was around 89% of all internet users, while Firefox had just come up to about 7%. This is great, because Firefox keeps getting more and more popular.

What this means is that there may not be many public groups, or classes to teach how to use Firefox, while there may be many for other browsers. I did a Google search and found it hard to sift through the online content to find local classes. Chances are there are other people in your area that would like Firefox classes, so you may have to make the interest rise. So my suggestion is to go to the adult education school, and the public library/ies and request of them to start such classes.

As per the terminology in the tutorials here, they are meant for those who have general computer experience, but would like to learn how different Firefox functions work, so they don’t have to spend time to figure it out. I’ll take your comment into consideration when writing article, and try to make things easier to understand for beginners.

Ethan - My only gripe about Firefox is that it does not have the “Send Page” command on the File menu that my Mozilla browser has. I like to e-mail myself Web pages (for storage in e-mail folders). The “Send Page” command is perfect for that.

With Firefox this is not possible except by first saving the Web page to my computer and then sending it as an attachment. Even then the Web page sent is missing some key files causing repeated obnoxious “! is not a registered protocol” popup alerts.

I have two questions for you: 1) Why did Firefox get rid of the “Send Page” command? 2) Is it possible to get rid of the “! is not a registered protocol” messages in my Mozilla e-mail?

While firefox is based on the Mozilla® browser (which is actually a suite of software), and is much like it in a lot of ways, it is a played down version. Firefox is a very basic program without all the bells and whistles. This is so that the initial download is small and simple, but you can add extensions to perfectly customize it to your needs.

But it doesn’t help much when there isn’t an extension for what you want, does it? Well, generally speaking, Firefox is a fairly new browser, and obviously more is to come.

I did not find an extension to send a whole page in an email, but I did find one that will allow you to select text on a page, then right-click and click “Send Text In Message…” which will automatically copy the text over to your email client. I hope this helps:

I can’t get Firefox (1.0.4) to save passwords on some sites. I’ve tried the ‘bookmarklet’ solution but no joy. Any ideas?

I have a problem, it seems firefox resets itself somehow like maybe every 6 months or so, at this time I cannot get online and a box comes up with my first account named ‘martha’ and the password is already there, but refuses to log me on that way so the very only way I can get online is to highlight and click on ‘default’ then everythings gone from the other martha account.
My question is …where can I find the martha account and how can I log onto it?
I feel like I am in a twilight zone episode! any help,ideas or suggestions are more than welcome and appreciated!!
