One of the greatest features of the Firefox browser is that it supports very powerful extensions. Extensions for Firefox, if you didn't know, are small add-ons that add extra functionality to your browser. They can add anything from a toolbar button to a completely new feature.

For example, GreaseMonkey, my favorite extension, allows custom-made scripts to change the appearance, or functionality of a specific webpage (more about GreaseMonkey here).

The Mozilla® website contains a list of a ton of cool extensions. I'll show you how to find and download cool Firefox extensions from their website.

The Firefox homepage is hosted at www.mozilla.org, but the easyest way to get to it is by going to www.getfirefox.com. Once you get there there is a link under the "Resources and Links" category labeled "Get Extensions and Themes". Click it! This takes you to the Mozilla Update website, and from here you can download extensions, themes, and plugins for all of Mozilla's software. We want to see extensions for Firefox, so click the "Extensions" link in the Firefox menu.

This gives you a page listing extension categories, most popular, and newest extensions. Click on the Humor category, and I'll show you how to install an extension.

When you find an extension you want, all you have to do is click the install link, but if you click on the name the extension you will be brought to a page that tells you, in more detail, about the extension. On that page is also an install link, click it to install the extension.

A window will pop up that shows the extension you are downloading. Just click the "Install Now" button.

Once the extension is finished downloading, which should only take a few seconds, Firefox will open the Extensions window (you can open this window later through the Tools menu to uninstall or disable extensions). It will probably tell you that the extension will be installed the next time Firefox is run. What that means is that the extension won't take effect until you close Firefox and open it again.

One extension that I strongly suggest is SessionSaver. Does your computer ever crash? or maybe you accidently closed firefox, and all the tabs you had open were lost? SessionSaver remembers all the tabs that were open, and even how far down the page you had scrolled. Download it Here.

So that's the deal for extensions, enjoy using all those really sweet features that they give you!
